"Hey look, there's an animal on the field!"

April 12, 2017 Peter Elliott

On Tuesday night, the Marlins-Braves game was delayed because a cat ran onto the field and scaled the left center wall. It's a great story and likely one that Tony LaRussa will treasure forever. The man has 17 (!!!!!!!!!!!) cats. Nevertheless, I couldn't get enough of these tweets.

Have just been informed that if a Marlin hits another HR, they will not turn on the Home Run Sculpture out of safety for the cat.

As an uncle of six great nieces and nephews, I take great pride in developing an interest for baseball in each of them. One easy way to do that is showing them videos of animals running onto a baseball field. The Marlins cat now sits atop all other cat streakers. Here are my favorites for other animals.

A squirrel doesn't want to leave the game

During a promotion called "Iams Adoptable Pet of the Game" where a local dog from a shelter is featured for adoption, the dog got loose while being escorted off the field.

May 25th, 2010 - Quad Cities River Bandits vs. Beloit Snappers - A rabbit runs onto the field at Modern Woodmen Park during play between The River Bandits (St. Louis Cardinals affiliate) and the Snappers (Minnesota Twins affiliate). The rabbit stops play for nearly 3 mins but is eventually chased out by Bandits pitcher Chris Notti (#33).
